The LA City Council banned many gas appliances in new construction.
Attention to all chefs out there who love to cook! Today I want to let you know that the Los Angeles City Council just voted unanimously to ban most gas appliances in new construction homes. For some background: burning gas in homes and businesses accounts for about 10% of the current pollution in the state.
Get ready for electric stoves, dryers, water heaters, and furnaces. More than 50 cities and counties throughout California have adopted similar motions as well. The good news for those that love to cook with gas stoves is that this likely will not take effect for several years. However, Southern California Gas has been campaigning heavily against this, so we’ll keep you updated on any new changes.
