Today I’m sharing our 2021 real estate market forecast. We’re basing these expectations on mortgage interest rates, home sales, and home prices. For these predictions, we looked at projected rates from Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac, the Mortgage Bankers Association, and the National Association of Realtors.

Interest rates are expected to remain at or near 3% in 2021, which will fuel very strong buyer activity. Home sales are estimated to increase to six to seven million in 2021. Home prices are also anticipated to continue appreciating as more buyers enter the market in the coming year. Anywhere between a 3% to 6% increase is predicted for home prices, depending on price point and location.
